My grandfather left me one strange instruction…

Dad grabbed her arm.

“Stop it!” he hissed.

Aunt Carol pushed past me.

“What on earth is all this?”

I barely heard her.

Inside, a large, homemade board game covered the dining table. Little wooden pieces stood beside stacks of cards.

But my eyes immediately drifted toward the back wall.

It was covered in photographs, receipts, and documents, all connected by red strings.

At the center hung an enlarged photograph of a wrecked car.

My breath caught.

I recognized that car. I’d been seven years old when they pulled me out of it.

Photographs of my parents’ house, Uncle Frank’s business, Brian’s graduation, and family vacations surrounded the accident picture.

“Everyone, please come inside,” the lawyer said calmly.

Then I noticed a photograph of myself as a little girl, taken shortly before the crash.
